Cosmetic Units and Beads Jewellery
From Local Resources to Lasting Empowerment
Overview
Aseem Foundation’s Cosmetics and Beads jewellery Units create high-quality cosmetic products using locally available natural ingredients while generating sustainable livelihood opportunities for women in India’s border regions. By combining scientific formulations with locally sourced resources, these initiatives promote skill development, entrepreneurship, and employment. Every product reflects the potential of local resources and the determination of the women behind it.
Victory Soaps & Lip Balms – Tyakshi, Ladakh
Nestled in the historic village of Tyakshi in Ladakh, this cosmetics unit is run by local Balti women who produce premium soaps and lip balms using locally sourced apricot oil. The products celebrate the spirit of Tyakshi—a village that stands as a symbol of India’s victory in the 1971 war, when the Indian Army reclaimed this region from Pakistan-occupied Gilgit-Baltistan.
Named Victory Soaps, the products honour the courage of the Indian Army, especially Mahavir Chakra awardee Col. Sonam Wangchuk. Beyond manufacturing quality natural cosmetics, the unit has given the women of Tyakshi a source of livelihood, confidence, and a unique identity rooted in both their heritage and the nation’s pride.
Cosmetics Unit – Phubala, Manipur
Run by local Meitei women, the Phubala Cosmetics Unit produces soaps, lip balms, lipsticks, toners, and other skincare products using locally available ingredients such as rice bran water and oil extracted from indigenous rice varieties.
At a time when Manipur continues to face social volatility, the initiative provides meaningful livelihood opportunities for women while creating a trusted local cosmetics brand that caters to the region’s growing demand at affordable prices. More than a manufacturing unit, it is helping women rebuild confidence, strengthen their communities, and create hope through entrepreneurship.
Beads Jewellery : P-Moulding, Manipur
The Beads Jewellery Unit at P-Moulding is an initiative for local Kuki women, creating jewellery from beads that reflects local tradition while appealing to modern tastes. The unit produces jewellery that is purchased and sold locally, helping build a small but meaningful market for women-led products.
In the volatile situation of Manipur, this initiative provides women with income, dignity, and a creative outlet, while strengthening their role in the local economy and community.
