Uri Premier League

In July 2017, The Kalapahar Brigade, in partnership with Aseem, launched the Uri Premier League. A total of 48 teams participated in the tournament, which was conducted from 5th of July to 5th of August. The final was held on 5th of August amongst much fanfare and attendance of thousands of supporters for both sides. After the finals, A team of 11 comprising the best players from the UPL was formed, which then started training for their friendly match against Pune XI.

Mr. Sunandan Lele visited the Uri team in his Jammu-Kashmir visit in September 2017. In his visit, he also arranged a video- conferencing session of the selected players with the God of Cricket, Sachin Tendulkar They were thrilled beyond description to see and interact with the God! This set up a tone for their tour to Pune.
After reaching in Pune, they trained in various cricket clubs and academies here.

Some of them must be mentioned, which are Deccan Gymkhana, who also provided the venue for the friendly match, Poona Club, Pune Youth Club(PYC), Varroc-Vengsarkar Academy. This team trained and played practise matches with some of the teams of these clubs, and also got a chance to visit Pune International Cricket Stadium in Gahunje. In Gahunje, they met Mr. Pandurang Salgaonkar, a first-class legend and currently the Curator for the Pune stadium.

8 October was the matchday, and we were greeted with torrential rain the day before match. All preparations were washed out, and we had to shift the venue to BMCC Grounds overnight. The college authorities were extremely helpful, and we successfully conducted the match on 8th of October.
Due to rain the match was limited to 17 overs. Pune XI won the toss and elected to bat first and put a decent run chase of 145 on board for Uri-XI in 17 overs for the loss of 3 wickets. Uri XI started their chase in great hopes, but the guest team managed to reach 104 runs in 15.2 overs for the loss of 10 wickets.

Pune team handed over the trophy to the guest team after a decent win, shows exactly the initiative was about "Friendship Trophy".
Chief Guest, General Jalaj Bhola watched the entire match and appreciated both the teams for their efforts.
